Reported in a complete different context, Jean-Michel and I however like what the physicist L. Szilard told his friend H. Bethe about his wish to keep a diary.
LS : ‘I don’t intend to publish. I am merely going to record the facts for the information of God.’
HB : ‘Don’t you think God knows the facts ?’
LS : ‘Yes. He knows the facts, but He does not know this version of the facts.’
Without having the pretention to think of ourselves as godlike creatures, for the day of our wedding, we were prepared to have an almost almighty knowledge of everything going on. I mean… We had been preparing every minute of the big day for more than a year, selecting each detail with great care.
In the beginning we did not feel necessary to have a photographer. We had the vision of very expensive and lame static shots. Not really what we had in mind. We wanted energy, movement and sharp details to remember but also sensibility, shadows and art… We wanted a witness of our emotional journey, someone who would manage the fate of blending photos and movement, 2D and emotion.
We found all the above and more in Christophe’s amazing work. Discovering his vision gave us the reportage we craved. It also showed everything we missed beginning with the way we ourselves looked – totally hot in my humble opinion ;). With Christophe we perceived a complete new version of the day we lived: the interactions between the guests, the looks, the smiles. Many pictures are just pure work of art. We cannot believe we were lucky enough to stand in most of them. We love that the feelings we sensed are woven within the pictures: the small and intimate gathering, the garden party feeling, the relax mood, the elegance of both the guests and the place.
Thanks a lot for keeping the magic alive and making it last.
